James Alexander Chambray Cotton Amaranth Pink 9cm Tie by DQT

Whether you’re the groom, the best man or a lucky guest, deciding what to wear at a wedding is about who you are and, when it comes to ties, what kind of statement you want to make. If you’re a jeans-and-T-shirt kind of guy, wearing any kind of tie might seem a trial; and if you have to wear a collar and tie every day to work, you’ll definitely want something different for this special occasion.

DQT’s James Alexander collection matches every moment and offers a variety of cotton ties, wool ties, silk ties and linen ties. For a wedding though, you’ll also be thinking of a cravat or ‘Ascot’ style accessory and, of course, the ubiquitous bow tie. Although a necktie can be dressy enough for a wedding, you might want to jazz things up by choosing something in gold or silver, or from the new range of James Alexander pastel shades like pink or purple. Ties are good for less formal weddings, worn with a crisp white shirt and a lounge suit. Slim guys will need skinny ties; big men might try wider ties like the JA Panama collection.

A more formal event could ring the changes entirely, giving the groom a chance to wear an Ascot, or cravat. Wide in shape and often patterned, the Ascot is best worn with a cutaway jacket and striped grey trousers. Elegantly folded and fastened with a pin or tie tack, it is definitely a cut above the rest.

Most gentlemen associate the bow tie with “proper” dressing up, and a wedding offers the ultimate excuse! Whether self-tied or pre-tied (both are equally acceptable), it is usually worn with a tuxedo and while the standard colour is black, the JA range comes in plenty of colours, with matching cummerbunds if required. Some traditions even like to match the colour of the groom’s bow tie with the bridesmaids’ dresses.

With DQT’s new James Alexander collection, grooms and their groomsmen are offered an exciting range of neckwear in a variety of materials, patterns and colours. Now, men can really tie the knot in style!
